The second habit is a bit harder to skim over, as Stephen Covey said right in the start, there are no quick and easy solutions. So I guess I shouldn’t try and race ahead.
Habit two, “Begin With The End In Mind” is about self image, reflection and comitment to personal ideals. To take it to heart you can’t just read a few pages and move on, you need to actually think about what is been said. Not so easy to do when clunking along on the train, but the message is clear if you do not create your own reality, other people will create it for you.
The main thrust of the text for the second habit is the idea of creating your own mission statement, and I have to be honest, the idea sort of makes me cringe a little, it seems a little corny to me… But, on the flip side I have from time to time though about setting aside some time to put down on paper just what I feel about certain issues, or what I want out of life… so I guess, the concept I like, but perhaps the way it’s presented is just off. When making your mission statement, the idea is to base your self on core unmutable values so that even as your enviroment changes, your mission does not, you can apply yourself easily to change because you are routed in self realisation which you can apply with confidence.
